A young Detroit girl's dream of becoming a firefighter is being supported by the Detroit Police Athletic League. The 9-year-old, who has wanted to be a firefighter since she was three, spent a day with female firefighters. This experience was arranged by Detroit PAL, where she participates in cheerleading.

Her mother noted that her interest in firefighting started early, with the girl dressing up as a firefighter for Halloween for several years. Through Detroit PAL, the girl toured a fire engine and met the women who work there. Further details about the girl's experience and the Detroit PAL program are available from the source.
