Michigan State University is offering guidance on protecting trees from an invasive pest. This pest feeds on numerous plant species and was first detected in the state in 2022. A homemade trap can be used to help detect and slow its spread, and it is wrapped around a tree.

The pest has been found in several areas, with a recent confirmation in Berrien County. Prior to this, it was found in various counties, including those in the southeast part of the state.

Further information on the pest and how to protect trees is available from Michigan State University Extension.
