Election officials are encouraging voters to continue using dropbox locations to return absentee ballots. So far, 20,000 ballots have been returned to the Department of Elections. The election department had sent out 101,000 absentee ballots between September 19 and 24.

The return of about 20% of absentee ballots four weeks ahead of Election Day is seen as encouraging. Voters are advised to mail their ballots no later than October 19 or use a drop box.

Further details on voting and assistance with transportation issues are available from the Detroit City Clerk's office, which can be contacted for help.
