The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has acquired a conservation easement on over 73,000 acres of land. This move protects a significant area and provides public nonmotorized recreational access. The protected land features various natural highlights, including winding rivers, perennial streams, lakes, and wetlands. It is also home to habitat for several species of animals and fish. A notable part of the protected area is the peak of Mt. Arvon, Michigan's highest elevation.

The conservation easement was made possible by $20 million in funding. Further details about the protected area and the easement are available from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
